Choosing the Best Narcotics Detection Tools

Choosing the Best Narcotics Detection ToolsIt is generally agreed that narcotics and illegal drugs should not be readily available on the streets, and law enforcement agencies use narcotic detection equipment to help achieve this goal. Much of the equipment that is being used by many US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and law enforcement agencies is made by Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO). It has been in the business of manufacturing a variety of contraband detection designs for over 30 years.

Their top item, known as the “gold standard” for contraband detection, is the Buster K910B Density Meter. This item, known as the “Buster” for convenience, is often the more in-depth tool chosen when K-9 units detect contraband. The Buster can be used to find items in many different materials, from fabric and wood to metal and many others. It is able to detect drugs, weapons, currency, and other items that do not belong or that are hidden within a vehicle.

One of their newer tools is the Perfect Vision® V20 Videoscope. Its display is 5 inches and also includes a multi-directional LCD display. The videoscope offers the ability to store video and still images in high-resolution. Its 3.5x digital zoom allows users to zoom in to see areas that are not easily viewable otherwise. Its resolution is ten times that of its competitors. The display can be dimmed at the touch of a button, when necessary. The device will hold up to 8,000 images or up to six hours of video on its SD card. Additionally, it has an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) safety certification for usage in potentially hazardous areas like fuel tanks – both gasoline and diesel.

You may purchase the Buster and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope separately, but the two make a great team and can be purchased together in the CT-40 Contraband Team Detection Kit. The CT-30 Team Detection Kit includes the Buster, an FO-Series Fiberscope, a PN-Series Inspection Probe Kit, Leica Laser Range Meter®, a PM-10 Extension Inspection Mirror with High Intensity Flashlight, and a wheeled carrying case. The CT-40 has been upgraded. It replaces the FO-Series Fiberscope and camera with the Perfect Vision® V20 Videoscope.

Since many agents work away from the office, it is easier to carry a somewhat smaller kit, and that is why CSECO created the CT-PTK Personal Tool Kit. It consists of grooved metal probes, allowing CBP agents and law enforcement to detect, inside packages or other containers, any contraband. Along with the large and small probes, the kit also includes a utility tool, pliers, knives, and an LED MagLite flashlight (small version) in a nylon carrying case.

While these are not the only tools available for narcotics detection, they are some of the best equipment available. Contact CSECO by calling 510-864-8010 or send an email to info@cseco.com.
